Our Opportunity
 
Our Senior Commercial Analyst will provide commercial finance support across The Sussan Group through providing high quality financial analysis, business partnering and commercial insights that supports profitable decision making.
 
Based in our Cremorne head office and reporting into our Group Commercial Finance Manager, this role supports financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, trading analysis and strategic initiatives across the business.
 
Your strong relationship building capabilities and commercial acumen coupled with your critical thinking will support in influencing effective business outcomes through sound financial analysis. You will be a true business partner, working and partnering with Group Inventory, Planning, Retail Operations and Group functions.
 
You will provide specialist merchandise finance support through analysis of inventory productivity, Open-to-Buy management, markdown optimisation and department/category performance to maximise sales, margin and stock productivity. 
 
Key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Supporting the Group Commercial Finance Manager and Planning teams by providing commercial analysis across sales, gross profit, inventory and trading performance
  • Monitor inventory productivity including weeks cover, stock turn, aged inventory
  • Provide analysis and insights into markdown performance including markdown and promotional effectiveness
  • Provide commercial analysis supporting strategic and operational decision making
  • Develop effective business cases based on analysis to determine future actions to assist the profitability of the business
  • Prepare financial models, scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis
  • Support in the preparation, analysis, evaluation and final submission of seasonal budgets
  • Partner with relevant Business departments to support seasonal forecast
  • Build strong relationships across Planning, Group Inventory, Retail Operations and Group functions
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in Commercial Finance or Merchandise Finance within a retail environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Commerce
  • CPA or CA accredited (or studying towards)
  • Strong understanding of retail financial drivers including sales, GP, Markdown, Open to Buy, Stock Turn, Weeks Cover.
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Strong relationships building and business partnering capability
  • Reporting and Presentation skills
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
