Our Opportunity
 
Joining our super talented Buying team, the Junior Buyer will be supporting our Buyer (Shirts, Jackets, Pants, Shorts) in selecting and developing a range of innovative and relevant products that will enable the department to achieve set sales plans, intake margins, planned markdowns and overall gross profit aligned to the Sportsgirl customer profile. 
 
You will demonstrate an understanding of fashion trends and support the product development across your category as it relates to the Sportsgirl customer. 
 
Your passion, agility and strong organisational skills will be on show as will your sound relationship building and influencing abilities. 
 
Your day-to-day will include:
  • Communicate creative input and innovation for all product development for Sportsgirl to be right on trend
  • Work closely with the planning department to ensure OTB, margins and pricing strategy for department is being achieved
  • Display effective analysis of range planning and forecasting
  • Develop seasonal departmental strategies and budgets in conjunction with Planning department 
  • Redesign and interpret overseas products and trends in line with Sportsgirl brand vision
  • Demonstrate an understanding of product construction, fabric/materials 
  • Maintain and develop effective supplier relationships
  • Understand critical path to ensure briefings and booking deadlines are met
  • Maintain and develop effective internal relationships
To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Fashion/Design/Merchandising diploma or Business/Commerce degree
  • Previous experience in the fashion industry, as a Buying Assistant or Trainee Buyer
  • Understanding of buying and planning principals
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven direct sourcing experience
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
  • Solid understanding of the local and international market place
